How to store beer

[Storage tips for enjoying beer to the fullest]
Unfiltered and unheated craft beer is just as delicate as fresh food. Please be sure to store it in the refrigerator (2℃ to 10℃).
Storage method is very important to enjoy craft beer to its fullest. Check if the label says "refrigerate." If the craft beer says "refrigerate," you can enjoy it to its fullest by storing it according to the following points.
The Sake no Hana series by funs brewing also requires refrigeration. It is a draft beer that is unfiltered and unheated, and contains "live yeast." The appeal is that you can enjoy the "natural flavor and natural carbonation" that live yeast produces. However, it is very delicate, so if stored incorrectly, the yeast will become too active and the flavor will deteriorate. In particular, if stored at room temperature or in the freezer, it will lose its flavor in no time. We always deliver our products refrigerated regardless of the season, so we would appreciate it if you would store the product properly in the refrigerator after it arrives so that you can enjoy its original flavor.
- The best place to put it in the refrigerator is in the center or back where the temperature is stable.
Draft beer is very sensitive to light, and exposure to ultraviolet light or fluorescent lights will impair its flavor. Store the beer in a place in the refrigerator that is as far away from light as possible. If you are not going to drink it right away, it is also effective to block out the light by covering the bottle with aluminum foil. Also, choose a place in the refrigerator that shakes as little as possible to prevent the yeast from becoming activated by vibration. It is best to avoid a place that shakes when the door is opened and closed.
- Be careful not to cool it too much or change the temperature.
If beer is stored at too low a temperature, the polyphenols contained in the beer will turn cloudy and the flavor will deteriorate, a phenomenon known as "cold turbidity." Also, be careful of temperature changes. Repeated cooling and warming of the beer will make the polyphenols unstable, making it more susceptible to precipitation and turbidity. One of the attractions of craft beer is its color. If you have the chance, we hope you can enjoy it in the best possible condition.
- It is recommended to store it upright rather than lying down.
If you store the bottle on its side, the yeast that has settled at the bottom of the bottle will be more likely to mix in, which can affect the taste and appearance. Also, storing beer on its side increases the surface area exposed to air, which causes it to oxidize faster. In addition, standing the bottle upright will prevent the cork from deteriorating and will help the carbonation last longer.
-
The sediment that settles at the bottom of the bottle is yeast and sake lees.
Many people consider this sediment to be an impurity, but it is said to be harmless if consumed. The Sake no Hana series uses sake lees, so it is characterized by having a slightly higher amount of sediment than other craft beers. If you are concerned about this, simply let it sink to the bottom of a bottle or glass and drink the clear liquid.
- Freshness is key, so please enjoy it as soon as possible.
Since the yeast is alive, it will change over time. Even if it is stored in the refrigerator, the quality will gradually deteriorate, so we have set a short expiration date. We would appreciate it if you could drink it as soon as possible.
